Problem 4: The Chest Room Split
1. Share the ingots
Alex shares 48 ingots equally among 6 chests:
48 ÷ 6 = 8
There are 8 iron ingots in each chest. A multiplication check is 6 × 8 = 48.
2. Count what remains
Each of the 2 affected chests starts with 8 ingots. Alex takes 3 from each one:
8 − 3 = 5
There are 5 ingots left in each affected chest, so:
2 × 5 = 10
There are 10 iron ingots left altogether in the 2 affected chests.
